We are happy to announce the release of a game we worked on with Mind Orchard for LEGO Spiderman, which is now released! GrindheadGames worked on the development of this title, which features Spiderman facing his mightiest foe, the Green Goblin. Players can use either their Desktop or tablet device to play against pragmatically generated levels, while saving lives in the process.

Cowlorful 2 is coming!

Cowlorful2

We have begun work on creating a sequel to our colourful platformer Cowlorful, currently simply known as Cowlorful 2! Hopefully we will create a better name before launch, but at the minute, that’s all we got! Jimp is once again on board to create all the fantastic artwork for the title, so you can be sure it will look fantastic.

A new feature which sets it apart from the original Cowlorful is a new underwater zone. Being underwater poses different problems for Cow, so designing and developing these levels will be extra interesting and we hope the player appreciates them too.

The game is being developed in HTML5, and will be available on mobile, tablet and desktop. Things are pretty early in development, but we have some screenshots taken by Jimp of his work on the game so far. We are also planning on recording a few development diary videos while creating this game, to share the process with other indie developers and gamers so keep your eyes and ears peeled for those.

If you missed the first Cowlorful, you can head still over to ArmorGames to give it a play.

Getting Started with the ImpactJS Framework on OSX

This guide will walk you through the process of setting up your development environment for ImpactJS on Mac OSX.

To begin with, if you have not already purchased ImpactJS, do so here. ImpactJS is not free, and costs $99 to buy. It is a really good engine, and comes with many features such as a level editor. Here is a brief introduction video on ImpactJS, so you can learn more about the features if you are unfamiliar with them.

Once you have ImpactJS, you need a local server to run them. For this there are two popular options. OSX comes with an Apache server installed, which you can enable by using the System Preferences > Sharing > Web Sharing. Once you have turned this feature on, placing the files in the Sites folder is all you need to do to run Impact.

Alternatively, download and install MAMP. Once installed, place the ImpactJS files inside the htdocs folder and then simply direct your browser at the files. By default this would be http://localhost:8888/impact/ If set up correctly, you should now see the default ImpactJS ‘It Works’ screen.
