For a long time I have been a reader of Flash and Flex Developers magazine, and have found it a useful resource to catch up on the latest developments in the Flash world, as well as picking up a few lessons along the way. I picked up my first copy at the London Flash Platform User group, where I won it in a raffle and read most copies since. It is available now in PDF format which saves the trees, and it is also free.
I decided to write a set of tutorials for the magazine to give something back after reading it for so long, and got in touch with the editors. Another motive was that I wanted to dust off my writing skills, which have become notably rusty after putting down the pen over a year ago.
I was very surprised to find my work has been used as the cover article of the July 2011 issue.
In the article I explain why it is useful to learn blitting techniques, and show you how to blit a simple spritesheet. All the artwork and code required to blit an animation is included, and the result is shown below:

Jimp was a hero for allowing me to use his art from zOMGies2. Cheers Dude. Also a big thanks once more to the guys at FFDMag, for giving me this opportunity.
