I was lucky enough to be able to write another article for this months edition of the magazine, and if you head to page 8, you can read the second part in my tutorial about blitting. Within this tutorial you expand upon the lessons learnt last month, and learn how to create a more complex blitting system.
The final tutorial can blit 10,000 sprites, here is it in action:

For a long time I have been a reader of Flash and Flex Developers magazine, and have found it a useful resource to catch up on the latest developments in the Flash world, as well as picking up a few lessons along the way. I picked up my first copy at the London Flash Platform User group, where I won it in a raffle and read most copies since. It is available now in PDF format which saves the trees, and it is also free.
Spritesheets and Blitting in Actionscript 3.0
I decided to write a set of tutorials for the magazine to give something back after reading it for so long, and got in touch with the editors. Another motive was that I wanted to dust off my writing skills, which have become notably rusty after putting down the pen over a year ago.
I was very surprised to find my work has been used as the cover article of the July 2011 issue.
The article is called Spritesheets and Blitting in Actionscript 3.0, and can be read over at http://ffdmag.com/magazine/1750-spritesheets-and-blitting-in-actionscript-3-0
In the article I explain why it is useful to learn blitting techniques, and show you how to blit a simple spritesheet. All the artwork and code required to blit an animation is included, and the result is shown below:

Jimp was a hero for allowing me to use his art from zOMGies2. Cheers Dude. Also a big thanks once more to the guys at FFDMag, for giving me this opportunity.
